About Us

The Missouri National Guard has always, and continues today, to add great value to the security of our state and mission. Since the terrorist attack on the United States on September 11th, your Missouri National Guard has been fully engaged, at home and abroad, performing both state and federal missions.

Over 500 Guard members provided non-traditional security support in Missouri’s airports, the Callaway Nuclear Power Plant and UMC Research Reactor and at the Winter Olympic Games in Utah. More than 800 soldiers, airmen and women are engaged in traditional go-to-war federal missions, both at home and abroad.

Even in the wake terrorist attacks on our country, the soldiers of the Missouri Guard continue to train and prepare for a variety federal overseas missions as well as historical "natural disaster" missions related to state emergency response efforts. The Guard must also be an active player in the Army and Air Force’s efforts for transformation and modernization of our military. In the midst of these efforts, quality of life issues must also be taken into consideration for families and employers of our citizen-soldiers.

Even though we face many challenges, our Guard will face those challenges—Head On—with the same spirit of "Show-Me-Pride" that has become the hallmark of Missouri’s citizen-soldiers. The men and women who fill the ranks of the Missouri National Guard are the best of Missouri citizens. They are your family members, your friends and your neighbors. They have the same can-do spirit that sustained their forefathers through the Civil War, the Mexican American War, World Wars I and II, the Korean War, Vietnam, and Operations Desert Shield and Storm.
